Bus Trip to Mount Vernon

When George Washington lived here, Mount Vernon was an 8,000-acre plantation divided into five farms. Each farm was a complete unit, with its own overseers, work force of slaves, livestock, equipment, and buildings. The farm where Washington and his family lived was called the "Mansion House Farm." 

This exciting collaborative first between The Friends of the Library and Sawtelle Travel presents a wonderful opportunity to visit one of America’s most historic homes. The Friends of the Library, a community volunteer group that raises funds to augment services and programs offered by the public library has organized day trips in the past. This is the Friends’ first multi-day trip and they sincerely hope you can join them.

Trip Includes:

 

  • Round trip motorcoach transportation from the Binghamton area
  • Two nights stay at the Quality Inn Potomac Mills – Woodbridge, Virginia
  • Continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday
  • Mount Vernon admissions
  • Guided 1-hour walking tour
  • 30-minute presentation by Martha Washington
  • Three-course lunch at the historic Mount Vernon Inn
  • Free time at Mount Vernon to explore on your own
  • All taxes and gratuities
  • A tax deductible contribution of $25 per person to the Broome County Public Library

 

Cost Per Person:

 

            $329 double occupancy – 2 people sharing a room

            $439 single occupancy – 1 person per room

 

Payments to Sawtelle Travel Service:

 

            Deposit:           Immediate deposit of $50 per person to confirm your participation

            Balance:          Final payment is required by July 31, 2008

            Cancel:            A $50 per person cancellation charge will apply after July 31, 2008

 

Payments by cash, check or credit card - 3% bank fee added on credit card payments.
